The Post-Pandemic Hiring Process
6 Jul, 2022
After over four decades as industry leaders in the life sciences executive search arena, we are often asked what the ideal hiring strategy is. Now more than ever, clients want to know how to conduct the process in a post-pandemic world.
The key to a company’s success is a well-built team. But post pandemic, it can seem challenging to develop an ideal hiring process as remote interviews become the standard. At BEC, we recommend a hybrid of virtual and in-person interview stages to ensure that the candidate is both a logistical match and ready to mesh with your team. We recommend the following hybrid hiring process:
First, have the candidate participate in a virtual “get to know you” interview with the hiring manager. Here, they are able to screen prospects with the most potential to align with your company.
If the candidate meets standards and demonstrates adequate qualities, advance them to a virtual panel with multiple members of the hiring team. This is an opportunity to conduct an in-depth interview to assess the candidate’s skillset and core competencies.
Once deemed an appropriate fit, have the candidate meet the hiring manager in person. While most of the process is now remote, we believe that this face-to-face interaction is integral to finding the perfect candidate for your team.
Finally, the candidate should meet virtually with your executive leadership to finalize the selection process. We recommend conducting this step virtually in order to save time and money while still receiving final approval from top management.
These steps seamlessly blend the ease of virtual interviews with the value of in-person interaction to ensure that you find the perfect candidate to elevate your team.
